Tropical marine ecology is an 8-day trip to a Caribbean Coral Reef. This year will be our 22nd TME teacher workshop and we will be using the educational facility at the Roatan Institute for Marine Science (RIMS). The tiled blog background shows both RIMS and Anthony's Key Resort.

TME 2014 Canceled

TME 2014 has been canceled due to too few participants. Unfortunately we were unable to identify enough teachers to make this workshop viable. My sincere apologies to those who were planning to participate.

It has been a good run! Since 1987 we have been on 21 teacher trips with 276 participants! Carla Borelli organized the 1987 trip -10 days in Jamaica at Hofstra University Marine Lab for ... $750!! (including air) Carla, see what you started?

And, as Gene Kaplan, HUML, was fond to say: Wishing you calm seas and clear skies.....

Trip Details Set!

The TME Workshop flyer with details and registration information is now available for download in the right margin. We will be using The Roatan Institute for Marine Science (RIMS) at Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan, one of the Bay Islands off the north coast of Honduras in the Caribbean Sea. Trip dates are August 9-16, 2014.

The advertised cost of the trip this year does not include airfare. We have reserved a group airfare on Delta from Buffalo, NY to Roatan, but to take advantage of this offer we will need a minimum of ten participants flying out of Buffalo. Details are on the flyer or feel free to contact me for more info. If booking your own flight we recommend direct flights from the US to Roatan (RTB).

The TME trip is designed as a snorkeling trip. Snorkelers will generally spend most of their water time in shallow water. Because the reef structure in Roatan allows participants to easily move into deeper water at most snorkel sites, certified divers will have the option to SCUBA dive at these locations.

There will be an Informational TME Meeting on March 20, 2014, at the Science Resources Center, LoGuidice Education Center "D" Building, 9520 Fredonia Stockton Road, Fredonia, NY 14063. Please call (716) 672-3118 to reserve a spot or request directions.

Maybe this is the year you will take the plunge into tropical seas with TME!
